Jaz's day started with a pell-mell run for the bus after sleeping through their alarm. They made it, though, so it all worked out okay.

Elsewhere in the home, Wendy was bathing Jimmy, and Matt had decided to work from home today, because he had some designs to work on for City Council.

He got the laundry started, then had some inspiration, and immediately pulled out his tablet and got to work.

"Matt? Where are you? The vacuum cleaner is broken again, and the noise is keeping Jimmy from sleeping? Could you fix it?" Matt realized he'd been working for a couple hours while standing in the laundry room.

Emerging from the laundry room, he called out to Wendy that he'd fix it, and got to work. After getting a nasty shock, however, he decided discretion was the better part of valor, and called in the repairman.

Before the repairman left, however, Matt decided to put his new design in front of someone, and got some positive ideas from him. With this in mind, Matt took the design back to the drawing tablet, and got down to work again.

Wendy went to change the laundry, only to find the whole school day had passed, and Jaz came in with a polite knock at the door.

"Wendy?"

"Yes, sweetie?"

"I realized today, that for my new aspiration, I need to learn to play an instrument. There's a music class at school I could transfer into, but I have to have permission from you.. and we'd have to get me a loaner Violin. What do you think?" Jaz said, wringing their hands nervously.

"Oh, that sounds lovely, Jaz! Did you bring home the form for us to fill out?" Wendy asked with a big smile.

"I did. It's in my backpack. I'll go get it." Jaz replied, and ran off to get it from their room.

Jaz brought the form to Wendy, and sheepishly added a second form. "I, uh.. also have this form you need to sign. I joined a pen pal club, and ... I need a consent signature for it. If thats.. that's okay, I mean."

"Really? That sounds interesting. Can you show me the site? I'd like to check to make sure it looks safe before I sign anything." Wendy replied cautiously.

Jaz nodded, and led Wendy towards the office, which, thankfully, was empty. Pulling up the website, Jaz read the details to Wendy, and showed her the safety and the "for parents" part of the site.

Wendy read everything, and agreed that it seemed like a fun, safe idea, and happily signed the forms and helped Jaz scan them to add to their application. Jaz's face fell when they realized there had been no reply to their application yet, but Wendy pointed out that it possibly was waiting to go through until the form had been filled out.

After getting everything in order, and packing the form and the check required for the Violin rental into their backpack safely for the next school day, Jaz headed down to dinner, worrying to themselves about the pen pal application.

Later, Wendy tucked Jaz into bed with a kiss on their head, and whispered (so as to not bother the already sleeping Penny), "It'll be okay, sweetie. I'm sure your application will be just fine now that it has the permission slip."

With a sigh, Jaz curled up under the covers and closed their eyes. It took a while to get to sleep, but sleep did come.. eventually.

Downstairs, Matt caught Wendy who was finishing cleaning up from the family dinner, and swept her into a kiss. "I'm so glad we've become foster parents. I'm sorry we couldn't have any more of our own... but I think it's worked out for the best, don't you?"

With a grin, Wendy agreed, and pulled him along upstairs.

They tried to be quiet, but who knows how well it worked... Afterwards, Matt cuddled Wendy close, and they fell asleep swiftly after what had been a busy day for both.
