Current Game #24 - Project Highrise

We've already visited with SimTower, and I would be remiss if I didn't include this game, which is considered by many to be it's spiritual successor. There have been other tower games, but none have captured the spirit and addictiveness of the original as closely as this one did. I've put nearly 100 hours into this game, and I can honestly say I really enjoy it. It's not the same game as the first by any means - it can't be left overnight to run to get you cash for building - but it certainly has the same spirit. The expansions for the game have added some really fun features that the original game never thought of, and increased the challenge of keeping a successful tower going. On top of that, this game has scenarios that can challenge and engage you as the player in a number of different ways.

Game Info:

Much like SimTower, this is a 2D tower-building simulation game developed by SomaSim and published by Kasedo Games. It came out in September 2016, and has been well-received. It's currently listed on Steam as "very positive" and I heartily agree with this review. Metacritic gave it a 73, and the game itself has gotten a couple of awards for being a stand-out among indie games.

Above anything else, this game is easy to learn with a comprehensive and helpful system to get you into the intricacies of running a self-sufficient tower. Despite the fact that the tower simulation itself is deeply complex and uses all sorts of fun mechanics to make it feel REAL, you should have no trouble getting to know the systems and, in no time, you will be able to make mega-towers! There have been some complaints that the game seems to have a "lack of personality" due to artistic style and color palette, but I'll be honest, I didn't think it was too much of an issue.

My Editorial:

If you're a former (or current) SimTower addict, I can't recommend this game any higher. It's by FAR and away the closest to a successor to SimTower that has ever been published. (And I've tried out quite a few tower sims in my time, searching for one that scratches the same "itch".... this is the only one that did!) I hope you enjoy the trip through this game on Monday and Tuesday as much as I'm sure I will!

Stay Tuned for afterthoughts!*

*(coming next week when I publish the VODs from this week's playthroughs on Youtube)

I am a 45 year old American wife, mother, and gamer. I’ve lived in the Midwest most of my life, and enjoy it for the changing seasons. My favorite movie is Labyrinth, my favorite game is Sims 4, and I have tattoos related to both. My favorite colors are purple, red, and green. When I’m not playing games (which is rare) I also enjoy reading and crafting. I’m also an animal lover, and have had many types of pets over the years. Currently, I have a dog named Cassie who is a Jack Russel / Beagle mix and three young fancy rats (all of whom are rescues). I run this Sims 4 Blog where I post screenshots and stories about the different challenges I play. Also here are the Sims 4 challenges I've written, and a place for me to store all the Sims 4 knowledge I've gotten over the years. I am also a Sims 4/variety streamer on Twitch for my mental health, fun, and to meet new people. I have also recently been accepted to the EA Creator Network, which is a dream come true! I look forward to meeting you!
